the concept of coming to class 20 minutes early. Why do people do it? It’s like unecessary. You could be doing so much more fun and more productive things than just sitting in an empty classroom with a thumb up your ass.
My first and only band was my dream to live and thrive. From the summer of 2009 in august of organizing the band until the breakup in April 2011, I have never had so much fun and experienced such sheer joy in my life. I remember the day I created my band. I created a facebook page for it and named it Coldport Drive becuase it was my street and it was the first thing that truly stuck with me. I had other names such as Aqueous, Torsion, and Atrophy, but Coldport Drive stuck with me. I had intentions of changing it, but the name stayed the same on the page and so did my decisioon.
I knew a one of my friends Dominic Nastasi in my Jazz Band class at St. Anthony’s who i thought would be a good companion as a drummer. My next memeber was Sam Fiore from harborfields (who doesn’t know him ahahah) he would be my bassist. First practice comes along. Only Dominic showed up. Sam was nowhere to be found. Autumn intervention and House party were songs we were putting together. Most of the other time, we were just randomly jamming. Halloween comes along, that would be the 2nd band practice. This was the first full band practice. We jammed on a couple Blink 182 songs Green Day songs and such. More other jam songs as well were being worked on.
Practice on Halloween ended, And i sat down, picked up my acoustic guitar and paper and wrote a song “Greenlawn’s Heartthrob”. It was my first song i wrote that had a beginning a middle and an end, and completed lyrics.
I dropped Sam from from the band becuase he stopped showing up to practice and called up Eric Ames as a temporary bassist. Little did I know, He would eventually become our official bassist. The trio of us started to practice “Autumn Intervention” which was a song i worte back in September 2008.
We agreed to let Dom leave the band becuase of the distance he had to travel to get to my house. He lived in East Islip. It was too far of a journey to trek. So Eric and I were in need of a new drummer.
On January 28, 2010, I called up a local friend Brandon Schwartz. I had thoughts of doing some musical work with him months ago. Brandon had many years of experience as a drummer. We rehearsed at his house and played Greenlawn’s Heartthrob and Autumn Intervention the whole time. Eric immediately liked him and after practiced we officially decided to welcome him into the band. Coldport Drive was on its way to becoming a sick band.
I can’t take this pressure. It sucks. I get paid $60 a week and give an occasional $45 guitar lesson, and at the same time i’m trying to save up for another car, an old school camaro. if you guys know any openings in jobs let me know
